UAL Proposal
Testing e.g. 12x shots storyboard - this is a recce (if possible try and use a external monitor instead of camera viewfinder on the DSLR)
3 Pillars: Aperture, ISO, Shutter speed - Exposure Triangle
Cornea= Lens
Iris= Hole - apperture large or small
F-stop - (closed) small f22, (open) large f2.4 - (f8 and be there - f8 is usually fine for all conditions)
F22 - nearly all of the shot will look 'in focus)
F1.4 - foreground or background in focus (faster)
Depth of field at a low f-stop is shallow - aperture is very open!
Minimum f-stop is important
Lenses
Fixed (Prime) or Zoom
The fixed lens has one focal length
The Zoom lens: when zoomed out aperture is one number
Zoomed in it will increase f-stop number
Pro lens fixed apperture - 70-200mm f2.8
(Low light situations)

- sensitivity of the film roll
- 100 ASA, 200 ASA, 400 ASA, 800ASA - Quick moving images need higher ASA e.g. sport, dolphin moving 800ASA
Shutter speed (blinking)
High shutter speed lets in less light because the lens is mostly SHUT.
1/4 means quarter of a second
1/125
1/250
DSLRS tend to go up to 1/4000 - shortest
(stills 30 secs longest)
Aperture
Rule of thirds (framing shot is very important)
Focal length is measured in metres

CCDx3 - Pro Camera
Human's see Green twice as much as Red and blue
B&W
Sensor in a DSLR - uses photolithography (Lith)
Sensor is usually a silicon wafer layer with tiny wells - with multiple colour filters on top.
Sensors: CCD, CMOS, FOVEON - there are 3
White Balance
-AWB (auto white balance)
-Interior and exterior
-Hue, Kelvin (Exposure) - candle light is 1000 kelvin, blue sky is 10,000 Kelvin
Black balance
-New camera calibration
Gain (Amplifies the image)
- Low light conditions - AVOID!
- Increase gain/decrease gain- test it
-If you increase gain - you make the image have grain

- Idea - explain and show research
- Audience? - Demographic - e.g. graphs/Pie Charts

SD Cards
SD - secure digital - created by SanDisk
Switch on SD - right protect when its down - you are not able to record to this SD card
If the switch is up you are able to format the SD card.
32gb card is ideal - make sure you keep SD card is kept away from magnets
Adapting FMP
If no access to FMP - use phone instead of a DSLR.
Smartphone resolution - 1080p, 720p etc..
Smart phone file type e.g. .mp4
Editing - Divinci resolve is a good Equivalent to Premiere Pro

As college is closed to students from today. And the campuses close Friday 20th to staff...
ReplyDeleteI will be communicating on this page with you. I will be available to start our FMP clinic (questions and answers) and the usual weekly sessions will happen at the same time as the current timetable.
I will post the sessions in this page as to what to work on next. Needless to say... research!
